  The 2020 Beer Mile is finally here! Join us this Sunday for the 4th Annual Tennessee Tri Buzz Beer Mile. This year we are hosting 4 races across the state as we try to determine which region has the best all-around athletes. This is the ultimate test of endurance! COVID Update: It wouldn't be a 2020 race without one. We are offering a virtual option this year for those of you that would rather drink alone that feel more comfortable staying away from small crowds. We do encourage spectators and those who are not participating to wear masks when in close contact with others. To validate your virtual race entry we just ask that you post a picture of your attempt to your IG/FB story or feed and tag @tenntribuzz. TTB: Ben/Summer, thank you for time to be interviewed. Could you tell us a little about yourself?  Ben: We are currently living in Charlottesville, Virginia, where we went to high school together. While we knew each other, we didn't date until well after Summer graduated college and I was in heading into my final year. We got married and moved to Albuquerque, NM where Summer got her Master's and then headed back home to Charlottesville right around the start of the pandemic. We both ran cross country and track in high school, but while I went to Columbia to run distance, Summer actually pole vaulted for George Mason University. We both stopped competing after a few years due to a number of reasons, including injuries, and Summer started running marathons. She was still in that phase when she signed up for a triathlon to, as she says, "impress me", and from that point on we were both committed to the sport.   TTB: Aaron, thank you for time to be interviewed. Could you tell us a little about yourself?  Aaron:  Yes, I am a husband, father, coach, and professional triathlete. I’m from Wilmington, NC. 2020 is my first year competing as a pro, or I guess I should say my first year with an elite license. I mainly raced 70.3’s with the goal of moving up to the full this year. Because my first planned professional race was cancelled I ended up doing a solo 140.6 for charity. I was able to raise almost $7,000 and finished in 8:42. I was formally a distance runner, competing for UNC-Wilmington in XC and track. An achilles surgery in 2015 started me cycling for fitness as rehab and gaining some fitness back and in 2017 I started competing in triathlon with IM 70.3 Raleigh. TTB : What was your initial reaction when races started cancelling in 2020?  Aaron: My immediate reaction when races were cancelled was just keep on trucking.   This Saturday, Aug. 15, Endurance Sports Management is holding the Fall Creek Falls Half Iron, which is the first half iron race held in Tennessee for 2020. This rare opportunity has attracted a few professional triathletes whose 2020 would have been jam packed with professional races had it not been for a global pandemic. TN Tri Buzz reached out to these professionals to get their thoughts on 2020, how they have been coping, and thoughts leading into this race.
