Let’s start off with you telling us why you wanted to start a new triathlon club in Nashville?

Greater Nashville area can be pretty spread out. From Franklin to Brentwood or Hendersonville is a haul. East Nashville has a unique opportunity with the Cornelia Fort Airport and Shelby Park as the perfect place that will make group workouts successful.

Why would someone want to join a triathlon club? Are there group training opportunities? Social activities? Cool kits? Coaches or clinics? Team discounts?

We wanted a club that could foster community and we felt East Nashville was the perfect place to do so. It can be easy to get stuck working out alone with schedules and life conflicting. I have experienced the difference in training with a group and that group becoming my community. There is no question that training with a group will develop stronger more rounded athletes and its just more fun! Joining the club keeps you informed on what others in your community are doing for training and racing. We have secured coaches that plan workouts so we get the most out of our time. We get special discounts at local retailers. We are just getting started and have a lot of great ideas coming down the pipe.

You guys have a pretty competitive running club scene there in middle Tennessee. Can we expect your rivalries with the Nashville Tri Club and Brentwood Endurance Athletic Club to be just as intense?

This being our first year we really just want to get out there and make sure everyone feels welcome and has a place to Tri. There will be athletes of all levels and workouts designed to cater to that. I know we have some pretty serious talent in the neighborhood and after all it is a race so we will see how that develops.

East Nashville is a pretty well-known hipster hangout. What are the chances you’ll offer a skinny jean option for the team kits this year?

Skinny jeans are required to join the club. I have been pretty surprise in the diversity of the neighborhood. I was hesitant on moving there myself because I'm just not that "cool" but have found that not to be the case.

The internet says that a net 100 people move to Nashville every day. How do we get those people into the Nashville tri community and how do we improve the overall tri scene in the state?

I think we are on the right path here. You guys are clutch. We as "leaders" must come together, work together, plan together, and grow together. Monthly meetings are essential. Keep us accountable and driving towards a common goal. I think more awareness is big. It was an effort to find a group when I moved to Nashville two years ago. When people get in a group and the group moves it causes more traction.

Pick your podium for top 3 triathlons in the state.

Being new to the state I cant say too much about favorite races yet. Riverbluff, Chat Waterfront, and I have raced the toughman series and really like the team that puts it together.

Thanks for the time Michael!
